Luk nasjeckati, pržiti na malo ulja pa dodati oprane narezane vrganje i nasjeckani češanj češnjaka. Luk i vrganje pirjati, ako je potrebno podlijevati s malo vode. Kad vrganji omekšaju, dodati opranu i ocijeđenu heljdinu kašu, lagano promiješati i dodati začine.
Prema potrebi podlijevati s još vode i kuhati desetak minuta, dok kaša ne omekša.
